We often wonder how someone has been able to create or develop a concept or technology. We have our own theory, and we’d like to share it with you. The formula that makes it possible to launch a new project capable of disrupting a specific sector is built on three pillars: education, research, and innovation. Each of these has its own importance and is often treated as an independent element. However, when the right conditions are met and all three converge equally, a synergy is created that can give rise to something truly groundbreaking. This is probably the best definition of the MovumTech project.

In the field of innovation, it’s often said that major discoveries and advancements arise through three main avenues: chaos, necessity, and collaboration. Upon closer analysis, digital dentistry brings together all the ingredients for these three factors to converge in a truly unique way.

CHAOS

The digital workflow in dentistry is, in many cases, a real challenge. Processes are fragmented, requiring multiple hardware and software resources to unlock their full potential. For the average user, “putting the puzzle together” of what is needed and how to implement it in their clinic or laboratory can be overwhelming. This often leads to frustration and the feeling of having made a misguided investment.

NECESSITY

From chaos arises clear needs. However, the solutions provided so far are often partial, acting as mere temporary fixes. This creates a vicious cycle of ongoing training and limited scientific evidence to support the proposed solutions. Digital dentistry requires something more robust and definitive.

COLLABORATION

The true answer to the previous challenges lies in collaboration. This should be the central pillar of digital dentistry: a synergistic interaction between dental professionals, universities, and industry companies. However, the current reality is marked by individual interests, making this vision seem like a distant utopia. Historically, our profession has not been characterized by a collaborative spirit, and that is something that needs to change.

MOVUMTECH

Aware of this reality, Wenceslao Piedra and Xavier Burgos decided to co-found a project with a clear mission: to bring order to chaos and promote collaboration among the different players in the dental sector. This is how MovumTech was born, a scientific and technological start-up focused on developing Artificial Intelligence algorithms designed to address real-world challenges in daily clinical and laboratory practice.

The goal of MovumTech is to set new standards for digital dentistry, transforming it into a predictable, efficient, and easy-to-implement process.

THE KEY TO THE PROJECT: A COMMITTED TEAM

Over the years, MovumTech has gone through various stages. Today, the team consists of over 20 professionals, including engineers specializing in artificial intelligence, robotics, and computer vision; dental experts in oral rehabilitation; and web developers. Together, they work every day to make a new, accessible, and truly revolutionary digital dentistry a reality.

You might be wondering: What technologies are we developing? The answer is clear—everything revolves around Artificial Intelligence. However, developing AI in dentistry is far from simple due to the complexity of data structuring, the variability and nature of this data, and the lack of unified databases.

In dentistry, we deal with three types of data: patient records, 2D images, and 3D files. These can be categorized as text, images, and 3D data. While there are many AI models capable of processing text and images—which are the most common in dentistry—do you know of any AI algorithms today that are accurate enough to surpass the performance of an expert human?

Few people have considered these questions, and no major player in the sector or research team has provided an answer. At MovumTech, we have spent 5 years conducting AI-based science to answer these questions. To date, we have developed multiple intelligence algorithms capable of working together on the same platform, which we’ve named Implantif.AI. Don’t let the name fool you; we’re not just focused on identifying dental implants through AI. But that’s a topic we’ll address in the next chapter.

Are you ready to miss out?

We are all aware that in recent years, dentistry has undergone a profound transformation in how both dentists and lab technicians work and communicate—all for the benefit of the patient. The dental industry has flooded us with all kinds of technological solutions, primarily 3D technologies. In recent years, significant efforts have been made to encourage dentists to adopt intraoral scanners. While it’s true that the intraoral scanner is the cornerstone of the digital workflow, it has now quietly taken a backseat. Today, the industry’s efforts are heavily focused on the distribution of 3D printers, which have taken center stage and clearly represent the sector’s future trend. But are we missing something? It seems that most players in the sector are overlooking the most important aspect: “the digital workflow is indivisible.” What does this mean? Well, that’s what we call “The Holy Trinity” in this post.

THE HOLY TRINITY OF DIGITAL DENTISTRY

The digital workflow in dentistry always consists of three phases: digitalization, design, and manufacturing. However, the dental industry has dedicated approximately 70% of its energy and resources to the first phase: digitalization. This includes the sale of various types of scanners: intraoral, facial, and laboratory. Today, it’s fair to say that the majority of efforts are focused on the sale and distribution of 3D printers, which account for around 20% of the Digital Dentistry market. If we do the math, it’s easy to deduce that the remaining 10% is dedicated to the design phase, i.e., CAD software. Of course, these percentages are not scientific but indicative; however, they aim to illustrate and emphasize that 90% of the dental industry has focused on hardware development, leaving just 10% for software. This fragmented approach to digital dentistry is unequal. So, the next question we should ask ourselves is: Does this make sense?

THE ACHILLES’ HEEL

Traditionally, CAD software design has been the domain of the lab technician. Following the dentist’s prescription, the technician creates the necessary devices for the patient’s treatment. This workflow introduces several “problems” that have, over the years, been perceived as normal. Digital workflows have always been marketed as faster and more cost-effective than conventional methods. But is this really the case? Are we optimizing it to its full potential? And more importantly, what does the future hold for dentistry?

To fully realize the benefits that Digital Dentistry can offer, both dentists and lab technicians need to have a comparable level of understanding of the digital workflow. This means that both must equally grasp the three phases of the digital workflow. If you haven’t noticed yet, the Achilles’ heel of all this lies in the CAD design phase. It’s rare for dentists to understand or use basic CAD design tools, and this is due to various reasons, be they economic or simply a reluctance to overcome the necessary learning curve. Let’s be clear: dentists don’t need to become CAD designers, but they do need a solid understanding of what these tools can offer, supporting lab technicians and enabling the best possible outcomes for the patient. After all, isn’t this all supposed to be for the patient?

Furthermore, it’s evident that numerous companies are developing hardware and software for the dental sector, but they do so in isolation and, more worryingly, with little (or no) scientific validation. The typical lifecycle of a digital dental product goes as follows:

A product (hardware or software) is developed.

It is launched into the market.

Dentists and lab technicians use and test it on real patients.

Some products fail to meet expectations.

Certain groups conduct scientific research on these products.

Later, science confirms whether something works in Digital Dentistry.

Is this the right way to operate in a biomedical sector? Why is it so difficult to validate a product before it’s launched? And when we throw in the magic words “Artificial Intelligence,” the entire situation can become an explosive cocktail.

In terms of technological development—whether it’s scanning, CAD design, or 3D printing—dentistry has never been at the forefront. We’ve always adopted and adapted technologies from other industries. Do we really believe that Artificial Intelligence will be the exception?

TIME FOR A REORGANIZATION

It’s time to redefine everything we’ve built over the past decade in digital dentistry. The digital workflow needs a logical reorganization, led by solutions backed by scientific evidence. Only after completing this (arduous) task can we begin to integrate artificial intelligence algorithms to usher in a new era of dentistry.

Before developing and implementing a new technology, it’s essential to bring order to the chaos first.

And that’s precisely why we created Implantif.AI by MovumTech.

In the dynamic realm of dentistry, where innovation is the driving force, a groundbreaking solution has emerged to address a common yet perplexing challenge: the identification of unknown dental implants.

The Prevalence of Unknown Implants: A Common Dilemma

The frequency of patients seeking dental care from new practitioners is steadily increasing due to various factors such as relocation, changing insurance coverage, or simply seeking a second opinion. This transition often presents a unique challenge: identifying the brand and model of dental implants previously placed.

According to a recent survey, nearly 80% of dentists in Spain have encountered this situation, and on average, each clinic faces it twice a month. This translates to a staggering 24 unknown implants passing through each clinic annually.

The Challenges of Manual Identification: Time-Consuming and Error-Prone

Conventional methods for identifying unknown implants often involve relying on patient recollection or consulting online forums and social media groups. However, these approaches are often ineffective due to the vast array of implant brands and models, exceeding 3,500 in total. Additionally, manual identification is prone to human error, making it a time-consuming and unreliable process.

The Dawn of AI-Powered Implant Identification: A Revolutionary Solution

Implantif.AI emerges as a beacon of hope, disrupting the traditional paradigm of dental implant identification. This revolutionary platform leverages the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to accurately identify unknown implants in a matter of seconds.

The AI algorithm within Implantif.AI meticulously analyzes high-resolution periapical X-rays of the implants, extracting intricate details that reveal their unique characteristics. This digital analysis enables Implantif.AI to compare the implant features against a comprehensive database of over 300 implant brands and 3,500 models.

The Enabling Power of AI: Streamlined Workflow and Enhanced Precision

Implantif.AI’s AI-driven identification capabilities not only expedite the identification process but also elevate the overall efficiency of dental care. With Implantif.AI, dentists can seamlessly identify unknown implants, eliminating the need for time-consuming consultations and forum searches.

Furthermore, Implantif.AI goes beyond mere identification, seamlessly guiding the rehabilitation process from start to finish. The platform provides dentists with direct access to the implant manufacturer’s catalog, enabling them to quickly locate compatible abutments for the identified implant. Additionally, Implantif.AI provides contact information for the implant manufacturer’s commercial delegate, facilitating a streamlined procurement process.

Implantif.AI: Paving the Way for a Future of Enhanced Dentistry

Implantif.AI represents a pivotal step towards a future where AI revolutionizes dental care. The company’s mission is to become a leading provider of AI-powered tools that streamline the dental workflow, optimize patient outcomes, and establish evidence-based protocols.

With Implantif.AI at the forefront of this transformation, dental professionals can anticipate a future where complex procedures are simplified, patient satisfaction is elevated, and the overall quality of dental care is revolutionized.

Bone Level or Tissue Level Implants: That’s the question!

This is the eternal debate in dentistry: which one to choose? From the Implantif.AI team, we will give you a series of guidelines from our point of view to help you choose between one type of implant or another depending on the clinical situation and the strengths and weaknesses of one implant versus the other.

Is one type of implant better than another? The answer is simple: No!

They are implants with different characteristics designed for one clinical situation or another. A single implant in the esthetic zone is not the same as a single implant in the posterior area, nor is a full-arch FP1 rehabilitation or with artificial gingiva, and even less so if the implant is placed in a patient with a previous history of periodontitis.

As you can see, the decision of which implant to select and place in each patient does not depend on taste but on the clinical situation and characteristics of the patient.

BONE LEVEL IMPLANTS (BL)

As their name indicates, they are implants placed at the level of bone. Depending on the prosthetic rehabilitation philosophy, this type of implant can be set at juxta-osseous or 1-2 mm subosseous level. This gives for another post, but we already informed you that from Implantif.AI, we bet for a Bone-level philosophy placing the implant subosseous as long as we can perform platform switching on this implant.

TISSUE LEVEL IMPLANTS (TL)

They are implants with a rough part (body threads) and a polished neck at the soft tissue level. They are exceptional implants but have a different philosophy than Bone Level implants. Contrasting the bone-level counterpart, tissue-level dental implants are strategically positioned slightly beneath the gum line, with a portion nestled under the soft tissue cover. To put it quickly, tissue-level implants incorporate a transepithelial abutment that you must place in bone-level implants and pay for such an abutment.

These are the macroscopic characteristics of both types of implants. Now we will see in more detail certain aspects that will help us decide.

What are the differences between Bone Level vs Tissue Level implants?

As it is placed at bone level, it is a less demanding implant from the surgical point of view. When it comes to prosthetic rehabilitation, there will be a wide range of prosthetic abutments that will allow correcting minor discrepancies, whether they are surgical due to angulation of the implant towards the vestibular or due to factors inherent to the patient’s soft tissues, in which a connective tissue graft would be necessary, and the patient does not want it. If we had placed a TL implant in this clinical situation, the metal collar would have been visible, which could have led to esthetic problems for the patient. However, in this clinical situation, we can choose an interface of lower gingival height with a BL implant, and the problem is solved. This is one of the significant advantages of versatility. However, we must know that each abutment has a cost and be willing to assume that cost. In addition, some BL implants allow us to work with the platform-switching philosophy, which aims to reduce marginal bone loss around implants.

At the other extreme, we find TL implants. This type of implant has an “integrated” transepithelial abutment, so purchasing an extra abutment to rehabilitate this implant is unnecessary. This, which can be an advantage, has some limitations. For example, it is a demanding implant, as its surgical placement will condition the prosthetic emergence of future rehabilitation. Not all TL implants are the same, and in future posts of this blog, we will explain the differences in the polished neck between different commercial TL implant manufacturers.

As you have seen, most of the differences are at the prosthetic level: how to rehabilitate these implants. Therefore, from the Implantif.AI team, we will give you some indications so that you can consider which situations we believe are convenient to use one implant or another.

1. Single implant in the esthetic area: Bone Level Implant.

2. Posterior unitary implant: Bone Level or Tissue Level Implant.

3. Full-Arch Rehabilitation FP1: Bone Level Implants

4. Full-Arch rehabilitation with artificial gingiva: Bone Level or Tissue Level implants.

As the field of dental implants advances, one area that has posed challenges is the identification of implants. Ensuring accurate tracking and information about your dental implants is crucial for ongoing care. Have you ever encountered difficulties in identifying your dental implants or keeping track of their details? Consider exploring innovative solutions like Implantif.AI, a cutting-edge platform designed for accurate, speedy, and efficient identification of dental implants. Embracing technology can streamline the process and enhance the precision of managing your dental implant information.

Are you passionate about innovation in the healthcare sector? Do you seek opportunities to invest in groundbreaking technologies that can transform an entire industry? Look no further than Movumtech—a visionary company at the intersection of dentistry and artificial intelligence (AI).

Who are Movumtech?

Movumtech was founded by a Dentist and an AI expert, aiming to bridge the gap between modern dentistry and cutting-edge AI methodologies.
The advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution ushered in an era of unprecedented technological advancement, with AI at its forefront. AI, broadly defined as the ability of machines to perform tasks that traditionally required human intelligence, has witnessed significant progress since its conceptualisation in the 1950s. However, it wasn’t until the last two decades that AI became a practical tool, thanks to the confluence of three key factors: big data, computational power, and AI algorithms. These factors have empowered AI to enhance various facets of our lives, including the field of dentistry.

In dentistry, AI has made substantial inroads across all dental disciplines, from operative dentistry and periodontics to orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and prosthodontics. While AI’s applications are diverse, a significant portion revolves around diagnosis, primarily leveraging radiographic or optical images. This article provides insights into AI applications in dentistry, discusses the synergy between Evidence-based Dentistry (EBD) and AI, and sheds light on the current limitations and future prospects of AI in dental practice.

2. AI in Dentistry: An Overview

2.1. AI in Operative Dentistry

Traditionally, dentists have relied on visual and tactile examinations, along with radiographic imaging, to diagnose dental caries. Detecting early-stage lesions, especially in challenging scenarios like deep fissures and tight interproximal spaces, often proves difficult. Consequently, many lesions are only identified in advanced stages, necessitating complex treatments such as dental crowns, root canals, or implants. However, AI is changing this landscape by introducing efficiency and accuracy.

AI algorithms, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), have been developed to detect dental caries in radiographic images. For instance, some have designed an algorithm for periapical radiograph analysis, while others have employed a similar approach for caries detection in intraoral images. These AI solutions exhibit accuracy comparable to or even surpassing human dentists. There have been demonstrations on the cost-effectiveness of AI in proximal caries detection, highlighting its potential to improve diagnostics and reduce costs.

2.2. AI in Periodontics

Periodontitis, a prevalent oral disease, poses a significant health burden. Early detection and treatment are essential to prevent tooth mobility and loss. However, clinical diagnosis relies on evaluating parameters like pocket probing depths and gingival recession, which exhibit limited reliability due to their subjective nature.

AI has stepped in to enhance periodontal disease diagnosis and classification. CNNs were employed to detect periodontal bone loss in panoramic radiographs. The accuracy of a CNN algorithm in automatically detecting compromised teeth was assessed. AI’s potential extends to utilising systemic health-related data for periodontal condition assessment.

Implantif.AI is capable of analysing dental radiographs and giving one of the following responses immediately:

Implant or implants identified: Implantif.AI will provide you with the brand and model for your unknown implant.

Implant or implants not identified: Here are two possibilities. First, the dental implant you are trying to recognise is outside our database. Secondly, your radiograph needs to be improved since it needs to be a periapical x-ray, well exposed, and taken with paralleling devices. If this occurs, try to upload a better radiograph.

Something went wrong: This image appears when you are trying to identify more than three implants in the same radiograph or if you are uploading a panoramic X-ray.

Duplicated radiographs: Our algorithm can analyse and detect duplicated radiographs, keeping the database as clean as possible.

The days of tedious, time-consuming, and uncertain implant identification are fading into the past. Implantif.AI ´s ever-expanding database is ushering in a new era of accuracy and accessibility in dentistry. It´s a journey marked by innovation, collaboration and a relentless commitment to improving dental professionals and patient satisfaction.

With over 300 implant brands worldwide, encompassing around 3,500 different implant models, have you ever wondered what criteria to consider when selecting one implant over another?

Price? Feeling? Marketing?

Usually, these three criteria influence our inclination towards one implant manufacturer or another. But, can we base our standards solely on these factors? We believe not.

At Implantif.AI, we believe it is necessary to establish a criterion that, from our point of view, will make a difference in your daily clinical practice. Additionally, it will facilitate the laboratory technician’s work, and with the proper protocol, the aesthetic and functional success of the case will be (almost) guaranteed.

You should know that not all implants are the same, but we are not referring to the quality of the manufacturing material or its behavior with the bone. Instead, it depends on the clinical situation which implant will be more suitable.

1. Bone Level Implant vs. Tissue Level Implant

This topic could fill an entire book, but if you want to use a single implant manufacturer, we recommend choosing one that offers both designs: Bone Level and Tissue Level, to adapt to any clinical situation that may arise.

TISSUE & BONE LEVEL IMPLANTS EXAMPLE

This topic could fill an entire book, but if you want to use a single implant manufacturer, we recommend choosing one that offers both designs: Bone Level and Tissue Level, to adapt to any clinical situation that may arise.

Typically, you can use Bone Level implants in the anterior sector and Tissue Level implants for posterior regions. It is the most comfortable and secure way to work.

2. Implant Length

Many years ago, highly long implants were routinely placed, exceeding 12 mm, which required sufficient bone availability or intensive guided bone regeneration procedures to accommodate them.

Today, thanks to scientific evidence, we know that short implants work perfectly, avoiding the morbidity of extensive bone regeneration surgeries. Therefore, make sure to have an implant brand in your armamentarium that offers 4-6 mm implants length. We assure you it will save you on more than one occasion.

3. Internal Connection vs. External Connection

When it comes to implants, they may all seem the same, but a key point is the implant connection. The implant connection will influence the placement of surgery and prosthetic rehabilitation.

At Implantif.AI, we believe it is necessary to routinely use implants with an internal connection, as they are more stable biologically and functionally as long as they are correctly placed and restored with appropriate prosthetic abutments.

4. Implant Surface

All implants are made of titanium. That’s something we all agree on. However, some surfaces integrate with the bone faster than others. We recommend choosing an implant brand that offers both options: a standard surface and a “faster” surface.

Why?

As a routine, in most cases, you can use an implant with a conventional surface that integrates in 2-3 months. However, imagine you are treating a patient who frequently travels, or you need to perform simultaneous bone regeneration during implant placement or even immediate extraction with immediate loading in the anterior area. It would help if you shortened the treatment time.

Suppose you have an implant with an active surface in your armamentarium, which achieves osseointegration in about one month. In that case, first, you will take less time to complete the case, and second, and more importantly, you will minimize potential complications.

IMPLANT SURFACE. RIGHT: HIDROPHILIC SURFACE; LEFT: CONVENTIONAL SHOT BLASTED SURFACE

5. Implant Geometry

Please do not limit yourself to a single macro-geometry for implants since placing an implant in a healed ridge is not the same as putting it in a post-extraction socket for immediate loading, where primary stability plays a crucial role in treatment success.

Therefore, it would be ideal for the chosen implant brand to offer implant geometries with parallel walls and mildly aggressive spirals for standard cases where immediate loading is unnecessary. On the other hand, implants with tapered body and apex, and moderately aggressive body threads will provide anchorage and good primary stability.

6. Prosthetic Abutments

This is one of the keys to success.

If the implant is well placed but poorly restored, problems will arise in the short to medium term. We recommend working with prosthetic components that are biologically oriented and have minimal manufacturing tolerances. This will help avoid biological issues like peri-implantitis and mechanical problems such as loosening or fracture of screws.

A comprehensive catalog of prosthetic abutments is essential, allowing us to address all the clinical situations we may encounter in practice. A limited and overly simplified prosthetic system from an implant brand is not beneficial since it likely will only meet some cases’ biological and functional requirements. On the other hand, avoid implant brands with an excessively extensive catalog, as it can lead to confusion and considerable doubts. The virtue lies in finding a middle ground.

Choose an implant brand that allows you to work in the following way:

Single Restorations: Ti-Bases for single implants, with different gingival heights, smooth and concave emergence profiles, and sufficient shoulder to support ceramic materials without fracturing.

Multiple Restorations: Multiunit abutments for bridges and full arches supported by implants. It would be best to have different gingival heights with progressive emergence profiles.

7. Surgical Kit

During implant surgery, the last thing we need is excessive thinking. Opting for implants with a simplified, straightforward, and quick-to-understand surgical kit for the entire team is crucial.

Furthermore, it will be convenient if all the implants from the same brand can be placed using a single surgical kit. Avoid implant brands that require different surgical kits for other implant models.

8. Digital Workflow

Digital Dentistry is a reality, and one of its main benefits is Guided Implant Surgery. Ensure that your implant brand has developed its guided surgery kit and that its implant system and prosthetic components are integrated into major surgical planning software such as Exoplan, Implant Studio, Nemotec, BlueSkyPlan, or Real Guide.

In addition to the software, scanbodies for the chosen implant are essential. Nothing is better than working digitally, and nothing is more frustrating than not being able to follow a 100% digital workflow.

9. Customer Service

We are aware of the fast-paced environment in a dental clinic, and we understand that there are often needs for implants or components the next day. Excellent customer service with sufficient stock and the ability to deliver within 24 hours or less is ideal.

Furthermore, many commercial brands offer warranties for their implants. If an implant fails in the short term, despite being correctly restored with original components, they usually replace it at no cost.

10. Price

For many, price is the primary reason for choosing one implant over another. For us, it is the last of the criteria.

Price should not be a determining factor, although it will be influenced by the type of clinic, patient, and business model implemented in our practice.

You should consider these ten criteria when choosing one implant system over another. In future posts, we will delve deeper into these points, providing our experience and perspective on modern implantology.

We would appreciate your feedback, and if you have other criteria that you usually take into account, please let us know at marketing@movumtech.com

The Fascinating World of Dental Implants: A Deep Dive

Dental implants have not only revolutionized the field of dentistry but have also provided a beacon of hope for those with missing teeth. These titanium marvels offer a durable and natural-looking solution, merging both aesthetics and functionality. Let’s delve deeper into the captivating world of dental implants, exploring ten intriguing facets that make them a standout in dental advancements.

1. Ancient Origins: The Historical Perspective

The idea of replacing missing teeth isn’t a modern-day revelation. Historical evidence suggests that ancient civilizations, such as the Mayans, had their own versions of dental implants. Archaeological excavations have unearthed skulls from over 1,300 years ago with materials like seashells and carved stones embedded in the jaw, mimicking the position of teeth. These primitive attempts highlight humanity’s age-old desire to restore physical appearance and function. While these ancient implants were rudimentary, they laid the groundwork for today’s sophisticated solutions.

2. Titanium Roots: The Material of Choice

Modern dental implants have come a long way from seashells and stones. Today, they are predominantly made of titanium, a material chosen for its unique biocompatibility. Titanium’s ability to fuse seamlessly with the bone, a process termed osseointegration, ensures the implant’s stability and longevity. This fusion creates a robust foundation for the artificial tooth, ensuring it stays firmly in place, much like a natural tooth root. The choice of titanium also minimizes the risk of rejection, making complications rare.

3. High Success Rate: A Testament to Advancement

One of the standout features of dental implants is their impressive success rate. Boasting a success rate of over 95%, dental implants are a testament to the advancements in dental technology and surgical techniques. This high success rate is attributed to meticulous planning, precise placement, and the use of high-quality materials. However, it’s crucial to note that success also hinges on post-operative care, the patient’s overall health, and adherence to dental hygiene practices.

4. Bone Preservation: Beyond Aesthetics

Beyond restoring a smile, dental implants play a pivotal role in preserving jawbone density. When a tooth is lost, the absence of stimulation causes the jawbone to deteriorate, a process known as resorption. Over time, this can lead to facial sagging and premature aging. Dental implants counteract this by providing the necessary stimulation to the bone, much like natural tooth roots, ensuring the jaw remains healthy and robust.

5. No Cavities: A Worry-Free Solution

A significant advantage of dental implants is their immunity to cavities. Given that they’re made of titanium and not organic tooth material, they’re impervious to bacterial decay. However, this doesn’t mean one can slack on oral hygiene. The gums and surrounding teeth remain susceptible to bacterial infections and diseases. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are paramount to maintain the health of the implant and the entire oral cavity.

6. Natural Feel and Function: The Pinnacle of Restoration

Dental implants are not just about aesthetics; they’re about restoring normalcy. They closely mimic natural teeth in function and feel, allowing individuals to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. Unlike dentures, which can slip or cause discomfort, implants remain firmly anchored, eliminating common prosthetic woes. Their design ensures optimal force distribution during chewing, ensuring comfort and functionality.

7. Long-Lasting Solution: A Lifetime Investment

While dental procedures like bridges or dentures have a finite lifespan, dental implants, with proper care, can last a lifetime. Their durability makes them a cost-effective solution in the long run. Regular dental check-ups, coupled with good oral hygiene practices, can ensure the longevity of the implant, making it a one-time investment for many.

8. Improvement Over Time: The Evolutionary Journey

The realm of dental implants has witnessed significant advancements over the decades. From improved surgical techniques to advanced diagnostic tools, the field is ever-evolving. Innovations like 3D imaging allow for precise placement, while advancements in implant design promote faster healing and integration. As research continues, we can only expect dental implants to become even more efficient and patient-friendly.

9. Not Just for the Elderly: A Solution for All Ages

A common misconception is that dental implants are reserved for the elderly. In reality, they are a viable solution for anyone, post-adolescence, who has lost a tooth, be it due to injury, decay, or other reasons. Age is not a deterrent; overall health and bone density are the primary considerations.

10. Economic Impact: A Flourishing Market

The global dental implant market is a testament to the procedure’s popularity and efficacy. With millions of implants placed annually, the demand continues to surge. As more individuals recognize the benefits of dental implants, coupled with the procedure becoming more accessible, the industry is poised for further growth.
